The 2021 festival season is here, and although the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic seems to be winding down, safety measures and statewide mask mandates are still likely to be in place through the end of the summer. While many of the spring festivals have been moved to Fall 2021, there are still ways that you can stay safe and stay healthy while attending festivals like EDC and Coachella. Check out the table below for specific information on what the safety precautions are in your state or the state you're attending a festival in.
Festival Season Safety Checklist:
Get Vaccinated
One of the best ways to protect yourself and others against the COVID-19 pandemic is to get the vaccine. Vaccines are free and are now easily available in most places throughout the United States. The best part is that, once you're fully vaccinated, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control assures that you're protected enough against the virus that you can go without a mask in most places—including large gatherings like music festivals and concerts. Visit the official CDC vaccine distribution website to find a vaccine distribution center with available doses near you.
Wear a Mask
The good thing about raving is that wearing a mask was always in fashion. Rave masks have been around in the rave scene since—well, forever—and they're not going away anytime soon. Tons of ravers love wearing rave masks because it keeps the dirt and dust out of your face and lungs while you're dancing your way around festivals like EDC and Coachella (especially at Coachella). iHeartRaves has tons of glam masks to choose from so that you can stay safe without clashing your look.
Rave masks also provide a sense of privacy. In an age where everything is recorded on social media, some ravers might like having a sense of security in knowing their faces won't show up in photos online that they don't know about. We love the PLUR vibes at shows, but sometimes you just don't want your boss checking in on you online, which is what makes a rave mask perfect!
Wash Your Hands
One of the most effective ways to avoid spreading disease is to wash your hands regularly. Although studies have shown that COVID-19 transmission on surfaces is actually lower than initially suspected, experts still recommend that regular hand washing—especially at events—can help keep you healthy. Lots of festivals don't have running water, so bringing an unopened bottle of hand sanitizer into the festival with you each day is a great alternative to hand washing when you're out. iHeartRaves' fanny packs and bags are a great way to carry small things like hand sanitizer around.
Don't Share
Sorry PLUR babes, sharing is not caring right now. Bring your own hydration pack to avoid having to share water with anyone else. These ones from iHeartRaves will keep you well-hydrated all night long as you dance around the festival.
Give Space
As much as we want to have a big group hug with the rave fam, it's still best to keep a safe distance at festivals and concerts. Vaccines are rolling out quickly, but we're not quite there yet. Hopefully by the end of the summer we'll have vaccinated enough people to reach a certain level of herd immunity!
